Response to Post “Blog-Prompt 2” on Juliarose2013’s WordPress

I mentioned something similar in my reflection of project 3 about the virtual-ness of this project being past tense. I don’t think  you were explicitly making this point, but I notices that you said “paradigm rhetoric is also important for self-reflection, as our project 3, self-portrait shows. By creating this project as a “’Paradigmatic’ virtual collage-image” we were able to better understand who we were.”Anything that we post is who we WERE. Not who we ARE. The simple act of making the post has changes our experience and changes our mediated self. By going back and reflecting you change. This makes … Continue reading Response to Post “Blog-Prompt 2” on Juliarose2013’s WordPress

Paradigm Rhetoric

To sum this up from the beginning, some people’s experiences are banalized and trivialized and creates limitations on worldviews  because knowledge is privileged. NOOOOWWWW I’ll attempt to explain that. People experience life in real space and time. Limitations exist such that people are limited in their ability to re-experience reality, review reality, or create virtual spaces in media due to technological dispositions and variations. In our society, emphasis is placed on mediated experiences and experiences are determined worthy and unworthy of certain levels of recognition because of their documentation as media. There is nothing that takes away from the real … Continue reading Paradigm Rhetoric

Project 3 Reflections and notes

After a wile away from it, I think that my project looks pretty good. I think that the buttons could be a little bit more “professional” looking, but I am unconcerned with their distractions from my site. I think that the site itself did a very good job at representing my social media footprint. I have had some insight, and like i mentioned in our lecture today, I think that the images I used represent the communities that I associate with, the people I follow, the people that follow me, as well as my activity on different social media. I … Continue reading Project 3 Reflections and notes

In belief/story paradigms, there is a sense of trivialization created when we summarize. We only include information that we think is important, but we may leave out a minor detail that played a role. Large or small, this role has now been excluded from the audience’s experience. Belief can be left out or privileged because your belief may not be the same as someone else. http://giphy.com/gifs/alcrego-loop-eternal-3o85xDB00zfqTTB9yU I the paradigms of information and proof, the same thing is true, trivialization and banalization are calculated and planned exclusions of information that is not seen as important by the author, but may leave … Continue reading

Summary and Reflection!

Summary: I designed my Weebly to be effective. I did not put videos or many pictures on my pages as it did not look nearly as professional. I tried to keep the pictures that I did use related to audiology, specifically the topics that were being addressed in the text that it ether preceded of followed. Even one of the default pictures fits into the them of my site.  I placed buttons at the bottom of all of the pages so that the reader could always access the resources that were being referred to in the different sets. I designed … Continue reading Summary and Reflection!

Alaskan Infrastructure: 3rd Space

There are these transmission towers that are shaped like people. They are theoretical (for the time being), but they represent so much more to a group of academics and community figures from Fairbanks, Alaska. As you may or may not know, Alaska is a force need not be reckoned with. The bitterly cold winters, isolated villages and towns, and extreme costs of living make being a student at the university much more difficult than one might imagine. This group of women began to notice that their writing materials and assignments were not well suited for their students, considering their hardships … Continue reading Alaskan Infrastructure: 3rd Space
